The tree planting ceremony that happened on February 20th, 2012 at the Kiyomizudera temple gate is shown here
When we celebrated our 80th anniversary, we decided to establish a "Company of flowers and trees." We added "Fuji" to the names of flowers and trees to mean "Fujikin's flowers and trees." The "Fuji Sakura" is our representative tree. The"Fuji Sakura" commemorates that Fujikin was previously named "Fuji Metal Construction" in honor of Mt. Fuji.
<About the Fuji Sakura>
The scientific name is Mamesakura. Besides Fuji Sakura, it can also be called Hakonesakura and Otomesakura. More resilient to the cold than the typical sakura tree, it is native to the Hakone area at the foot of Mt. Fuji, where it is said to grow facing downwards due to the ash from Mt. Fuji. It blooms from the end of March to the beginning of May which is later than other sakura trees, and each flower has 5 petals with a colour ranging from white to light pink with a small size of 1-2 cm. It is an extraordinarily cute mini cherry blossom. It is also the prefectural flower of Yamanashi Prefecture.
